Sheldon Klassen Major Blog Post

So it has been a crazy year so far at Prairieview. Filled with assignments, tests and of course, our final projects which are all going to be due at the end of this week and the beginning of next week. I guess I should count myself fortunate for getting to go second to last for the blog assignment because there has been so so much that has gone on this year...From field trips to gallery shows. Portfolio's to trying to grasp what's to come after this school year is completed.  I know a whole lot more about the photography industry in general than I ever thought that I would, as well as my own camera gear. Before the year started, I didn't know what ISO was, and I am ashamed to report, the majority of the shots that I fired prior to the first day's of school were done in Auto mode. It was actually embarrassing how little I actually knew about my own camera gear. But we have all come a long way from that first day in September, and I am happy to report today that I know exactly what ISO I like to shoot at. From the technical aspects to of my camera to learning all about post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop, we have all grown leaps and bounds this year. Obviously there is always more to learn, and that journey will certainly continue long after the 13'th of June. But I truly believe that the teachers that we have has this year have given us the tools to succeed in this industry in the future. One of the aspects that I have really enjoyed learning this year is the studio lighting stuff. It is something that I think I will use as a professional in the future. Some of the images that I have chosen to include are are done in the studio, using as many as a four light setup for some of them, and as little as a one light setup for others.  Also, we got the opportunity to shoot a "mock wedding" with some fellow students, which some of the images are included also. And if there is one post processing technique that I really like to use and that I think looks really cool is the selective colouring finish. This is the edit that I chose to do on the " Four Elements" gallery show images, which turned out really well.
