Prairieview has been an amazing experience so far. I could not ask for better instructors, classmates and friends. We're only about a month and a half into classes but I've learned a lot. We have a different class everyday (sometimes two) and you learn so much. We get a new assignment every day and you really need to manage time well. The most stress is at the start of the week when your assignments are all due from the previous week and you are starting to get new ones as well. As long as you use your time wisely on weekends and during the week, you're usually fine. That doesn't always happen but you have to do the best you can. We've had some fantastic speakers already that covered a few different fields. The first speaker was one who discussed landscapes and showed a good variety of Canadian landscapes. I prefer taking portraits but it was nice to see that Canada has such beautiful nature. Another speaker was a photojournalist that was told us how it is really not an easy field to get into. He said that he had been arrested and he's had to see some things that aren't exactly pleasant. This week we had a business speaker that is starting teach us all about starting our own business and all the steps we need to follow to get where we want to be.

We have gone on a couple field trips so far and they're so much fun. Not very many students can say, "I went go carting and mini golfing today for class!" . Our entire class went to Grand Prix for a day of fun and a major assignment. It barely felt like work because we had so much fun.
We also went to Assiniboine Park for a morning. I was lucky enough to pass a lady feeding the birds and snapped a few shots. It was difficult thought because every time the birds heard the shutter they would fly away.

Our latest trip with my group was fantastic, we went to Salvage Supermarket. It's essentially the coolest piles of assorted junk. Of course we went and it rained the entire time. So off we went, cameras covered with white garbage bags and wiping off lenses after every picture. I recommend anyone going to school here should have definitely have rubber boots, a really good rain jacket and really good winter gear. We are always being told dress for the weather, we will shoot in sunshine, rain, sleet, hail, snow or any other Manitoba weather. So we were all almost prepared for the rainy weather. Trudging through mud with my best friend the tripod (sarcasm but it is so so sooo helpful even if though it's a pain) wearing normal runners (terrible choice). There was pretty no escaping the rain until I found some strange thing that I think was a machine of some sort. I walked around to the side and there happened to be an opening. So i crawled through and hid from the rain and actually got some good shots.

I would definitely say that I'm learning something new everyday. It's already been a great experience and it's going by so fast. I can't wait to keep learning and building a great portfolio that will help me start my new career that I can actually say I love.
